Andrea Kamm is a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist, committed to the healing journey within her own relationships as well as those of her clients. She has worked in the mental health field for over thirty-five years. She did her undergraduate work at the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, California and completed her Masters Degree in Family Therapy and Clinical Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. After graduation, she was invited to join the staff at the University as adjunct professor, teaching courses in Adult Outpatient Therapy.
Over the course of Andrea’s career, she has worked with a variety of populations including families, children, singles and couples using a multi-modality approach. Early in her practice, she realized the deep longing for safety and attachment in all her clients. She began an extensive search for compassionate ways to help people remain safe and heal within themselves and their relationships. This brought her to the work of Harville Hendrix, PhD, the creator of Imago Relationship Therapy and author of Getting the Love you Want. Andrea has spent the last twenty years specializing in relationship issues. She is an extensively trained marriage counseling and couples counseling therapist. Andrea is an Advanced Certified Imago Relationship Therapist and a Certified Imago Couples Workshop Presenter.
In addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Board Certified Clinical Art Therapist, her further certifications include Hypnotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing—EMDR—a practice that has proven highly effective treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Andrea and her husband Bob are co-founders of the San Luis Relationship Institute in downtown San Luis Obispo.
